The founders of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. are gathering names of those who have died due to Vietnam related conditions as a part of their “In Memory” program. One of the ongoing tragedies of the Vietnam War is the illness and death our veterans face from their service in the War. The after-effects of the use of chemicals, such as Agent Orange, are taking the lives of Vietnam veterans.
The Wall That Heals Comes to Crivitz Committee is seeking to assist with this project by gathering names of area veterans who have died from Vietnam related conditions. If you have a family member or friend who has died from a Vietnam related condition, please contact The Crivitz Committee with their name, service dates and photo (if available). We will honor them on a special display exhibited while The Wall is in Crivitz. Information may be sent to buhl@vocwi.com, through a Facebook message at The Wall That Heals Comes to Crivitz, or by phone at 715-854-2030. Volunteers at The Wall That Heals will also9 be able to provide visitors with the information needed to apply to add a name to the 2019 In Memory Program.
The Wall That Heals will be on display at the Crivitz Community Veterans Park Thursday, August 30 through Sunday, September 2. The Wall display will be open 24 hours per day, regardless of weather, and will include the names of the over 58,000 service members who gave their lives during the Vietnam War, as well as the names of the over 1,500 service members who are unaccounted for. The Wall That Heals Committee will also be welcoming home all Vietnam veterans from our area and invites all Vietnam veterans to come and be recognized.
The M&M Area Community Foundation has provided an Impact Fund grant to help bring The Wall That Heals to Crivitz.
