Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker issued Executive Order #311 and a corresponding directive Wednesday to help those in Hurricane Michael’s path.
“Wisconsin stands ready to help those affected by Hurricane Michael,” Governor Walker said. “I thank the men and women of the Wisconsin National Guard for stepping up once again.”
The order and directive:
Authorizes the adjutant general to call elements of the Wisconsin National Guard to state active duty to assist civilian authorities in areas affected by Hurricane Michael.
Suspends certain restrictions and limitations to help carriers transport vital emergency relief supplies more efficiently.
Directs all state agencies to assistant the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs in responding to Hurricane Michael.
Allows permanent state employees who are certified Red Cross disaster relief volunteers to take a leave of absence up to thirty days to provide specialized disaster services.
