An Ontonagon County deputy was dispatched to a two vehicle personal injury accident at 8:09 pm Saturday on M 64 near Stroud Road.
Local Three News reports that an Ontonagon County Road Commission 2018 Western Star Plow truck had been rear-ended by a 2004 Volkswagen Golf driven by Darren Jay Tuomi, 48, of White Pine.
The plow truck, driven by Richard Alan Laingren of Ontonagon, had been traveling west when he lifted his wing and moved over for a pedestrian walking west bound when impact occurred.
Tuomi was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital and later air lifted by Valley Med to Aspirus Wausau Hospital where he died from his injuries.
Speed and alcohol were factors, police say. The accident is still under investigation.
