The Alano Club of 2218 13th Street in Menominee received a $5,000 grant from the M&M Community Foundation’s Alcohol and other Drug Fund.
The Alano Club is a nonprofit facility with the primary function of maintaining a safe and healthy environment for 12 Step Meetings to be held. The building is supported by member donations, but often this isn’t enough to cover all of the expenses to maintain the building. Our biggest fund raiser is the Waterfront Festival where we operate a food booth selling our infamous pork and sauerkraut dish made from a top secret recipe!
Hundreds of members of 12 step groups attend meetings here. We have made many improvements to the building in recent years. Our windows were not sealing out the cold effectively and we approached the M&M Foundation for help. We were excited to receive this grant. Getchell Builders submitted the lowest bid to replace all 11 windows and completed the project just in time for Christmas. We’re excited to have a more weatherproofed structure and to be more energy efficient.
Members of the Alano Club would like to thank the wonderful people who run the M&M Area Community Foundation and the donors who support this foundation which does so much for so many groups throughout the area! Thank you to the hard workers of Getchell Builders and Home Maintenance who completed the work!
If you or someone you know has a problem with alcohol or drugs and are interested in checking out a 12 step meeting, lists of 12 step meetings in the area may be easily found online. Many meetings are held in area churches and we have 12 step meetings almost every day at the Alano Club in Menominee at 2218 13th Street.
