Troopers from the Michigan State Police Negaunee Post were dispatched to an automobile accident on US-41 near Brickyard Road at approximately 5:50 a.m. on Friday.
Upon arrival, it was determined that the accident involved a vehicle and a pedestrian. The Chevrolet pickup truck involved, driven by a 51-year-old man from Ishpeming struck a 36-year-old Skandia man. The pedestrian was severely injured and succumbed to the injuries at the scene.
US-41 was closed in both directions until approximately 9:00 a.m. as troopers investigated the incident.
The names of those involved are being withheld at this time pending family notification and further investigation.
