U.S. Senator Gary Peters (D-MI), the incoming Ranking Member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, today announced that David Weinberg will serve as Minority Staff Director and Allison Green will serve as Minority Communications Director. Zephranie Buetow will become Legislative Director in Peters’ Washington, DC office.
“David, Allison and Zephranie all bring substantial experience and knowledge to their new roles that will ensure my office and the committee can continue delivering results for Michigan’s hardworking families,” said Senator Peters.
A Michigan native, David Weinberg has held several positions with Peters since his first election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2008, including as Legislative Director in both Peters’ House and Senate offices. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a B.A. in Political Science and earned his J.D. from the Boston University School of Law. While attending law school, Weinberg also served as a Law Clerk on the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, which is part of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
Allison Green earned a B.A. in History and Political Science from the University of Kansas, and an M.A. in Political Communication from American University. She currently serves as Press Secretary in Peters’ office, a position she also held in Peters’ House office. She previously worked for U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (D-IL) and served in various roles on political and issue campaigns in her home state of Kansas.
Zephranie Buetow is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a B.A. in Speech Communications. She also earned an M.S. in Communication from Illinois State University and a J.D. and M.A. in Cultural and Educational Policy Studies from Loyola University Chicago. She is currently Deputy Legislative Director and Counsel for Senator Peters. Prior to joining Peters’ office in 2015, she worked for former U.S. Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA). While attending law school, Buetow interned in the Chicago Offices of U.S. Representative Bobby Rush (D-IL) and U.S. Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL). She also served in the Illinois Army National Guard.
