WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT ACROSS THE UPPER PENINSULA
FROM 1 A.M. ET/MIDNIGHT C.T. TO 3 P.M. ET/2 P.M. CT MONDAY
DELTA, MENOMINEE COUNTIES:
Heavy wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 9 inches expected. Expect the greatest amounts from Bark River
to Rock, Rapid River and Garden. Snowfall amounts of 1 to 4 inches are expected from Stephenson to Menominee. The snow will
change to rain Monday morning at Menominee and by afternoon at Escanaba. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will cause considerable blowing and drifting snow. Travel and snow removal will become very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute, with impacts potentially lingering into the evening commute. Strong winds could cause minor tree damage.
IRON AND DICKINSON COUNTIES:
Heavy wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches expected. The snow will change to light rain or drizzle Monday afternoon. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph will cause some blowing and drifting snow.. Travel and snow removal will become very
difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute, with impacts potentially lingering into the evening commute. Strong winds could cause minor tree damage. A Winter Storm Warning for snow means severe winter weather conditions will make travel very hazardous or impossible. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
MARQUETTE AND ALGER COUNTIES:
Heavy wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches expected with the lower amounts near Lake Superior. The snow will change to light rain or drizzle Monday afternoon. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph will produce considerable blowing and drifting snow. Travel and snow removal will become very difficult. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute, with impacts potentially lingering into the evening commute. Strong winds could cause minor tree damage. Strong winds could cause tree damage and sporadic power outages.
