Wet, heavy snow rolled quickly into the Upper Peninsula from west to east Monday morning, causing all of the region’s schools to extend their Christmas break by another day.
Bay College classes don’t start until January 14th, but the Escanaba and Iron Mountain campuses were supposed to be open for normal business today, but aren’t. They will re-open on Tuesday.
The Escanaba Civic Center is closing at 4:00 this afternoon.
In Manistique, the Schoolcraft County Courthouse is closing at noon because if worsening conditions in the area.
High School sporting events scheduled for Monday night are being impacted:
Boys Basketball–Escanaba vs Menominee (make-up Wednesday)
Girls Basketball—Engadine at Manistique (make-up Tuesday)
Boys Basketball—Manistique at Munising (no date announced)
Boys Basketball—Mid Peninsula at Superior Central (make-up Feb. 6)
The Marquette Sault Tribal Community Health Center is closed for Monday.
The school safety tribute presentation by state Rep. Sara Cambensy (D-Marquette) scheduled for 9:45am today at Ishpeming Middle and High School will be postponed due to inclement weather. The new date and time will be provided when they become available.
