The Escanaba Public Schools are looking for a new school board member.
Bob LaFave has resigned, effective last Thursday, because he has moved to Gladstone. Superintendent Coby Fletcher says that school board members must live within the district’s boundaries, so they’re taking applications from people who’d like to fill that seat. Fletcher says letters of interest are due in his office by January 25th.
“It could be anybody,” Fletcher told RRN News. “We would be happy to have any number of different voices on the school board. So, it wouldn’t have to be somebody who is the parent of a child in the district. It could be somebody who just has an interest in being involved in our schools.”
LaFave’s term runs through 20-21, so whoever the board appoints will serve until then.
