While participating in the Scripps Spelling Bee, MAPS appreciates that the bee’s purpose is to help students improve their spelling, increase their vocabularies, learn concepts and develop correct English usage that will help them all their lives. This year thirty-three 5th – 8th grade students will compete on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at Kaufman Auditorium in the time honored tradition of a spelling competition.
Marquette Area Public Schools is hosting their 2019 District Spelling Bee.This annual district level bee is the second round of competitions for MAPS students.
Ten fifth grade students, and eight students in each of grades sixth, seventh and eighth have already proven to be the best spellers in their classrooms and schools. On behalf of our staff, MAPS values all of the families and friends that participate in each round every year as a spectator or study partner to support and witness the true journey of Scripps National Spelling Bee competitors.
Join us on Tuesday, January 29th at 3pm in rallying around our spellers, cheering in their victories and sympathizing in their defeat. Through it all, these spellers can teach and remind each of us in the community a lesson on true dedication, grit and resilience of the human spirit.
