The Marquette County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to CR 510 at the Yellow Dog River Parking lot in Ishpeming Township for a missing/over due subject.
Information obtained from roommates was that 25 year old NMU student, Guiancarlo B. Estupigan had travelled to the area of the Yellow Dog River to hike and take photographs of the falls.
Estupigan failed to return from his trip so the roommates went to the Yellow Dog parking lot and located his Subaru Crosstrek parked there covered in snow. The roommates then called Central Dispatch for the Sheriff’s Department Rescue Safety Personnel to respond.
Since the time Estupigan had gone hiking on Thursday the 24th in the afternoon until Safety Personnel were dispatched, weather had changed and snowfall had occurred in the Big Bay area. Rescue Personnel are continuing to search for missing Estupigan.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help in locating him. If any information is known of his whereabouts, please call 911.
Assisting at the scene were MSP K-9 along with Marquette County Search and Rescue Volunteers.
