At 8:30 PM Friday, Manistique Public Safety Officers and K-9 unit arrested Manistique resident, Gregory Alan Reed, age 42, for felony possession of cocaine during a traffic stop on Chippewa Avenue in Manistique.
After the initial stop of Reed, the Public Safety K-9 alerted on the vehicle leading to the seizure of a quantity of suspected cocaine and $1,662 in cash which will be pursued in forfeiture proceedings by Schoolcraft County Prosecutor Timothy Noble.
Reed was immediately taken into custody and lodged at the Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Department.
On Monday, Gregory Reed appeared before the 93rd District Court of Schoolcraft County where he was formally charged with COUNT 1: Controlled Substance – Possession (Cocaine, Heroin or Another Narcotic) Less than 25 Grams which is a felony punishable by 4 years and/or $25,000. The 93rdDistrict Court set bond for Reed at $25,000 cash or surety with 10% allowed.
Future Court dates are set for March 6 at 11:00 a.m. for a Probable Cause Hearing with the Preliminary Examination Hearing set for March 11 at 11:00 a.m.
