At 0742hrs. the Marquette City Fire Department was dispatched to 1900 Clark Street for a report of a possible structure fire.
As Fire Crews arrived they found smoke and flames coming from the front side of the house. There was also moderate smoke coming from the attic area of the house. Shortly after firefighters entered the structure it was discovered there was a large fire burning in both attic areas of the structure. Firefighters gained access into the attic areas of the home and had the fire under control approx. two hours after they had arrived on scene. All occupants had evacuated the home and were uninjured. The home sustained heavy fire damage to the attic area.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
The Marquette City Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Marquette City Police Department, The UP Health Systems Ambulance crew, the Marquette Township Fire Department, The Chocolay Township Fire Department, Semco Gas Company, and the Marquette BLP. The residents of the home are being assisted by the Pigs and Heat Fire Relief Fund.
