At 9:52am, on 3-28-19, Deputies responded to a 2 vehicle crash between a passenger car and a semi tractor and trailer.
The passenger car, driven by 35 year old Dustin Weigal of Escanaba was traveling N/B on M-35, south of Breezy Point, when it went into the S/B lane. The car was struck head on by the semi tractor and trailer, driven by 52 year old Donald Jagoditsh of Wausau WI. Weigal was pronounced deceased on scene and was extracated with the Jaws of Life. The crash remains under investigation.
M-35 was closed in both directions for nearly four hours while police investigated and cleared the scene.
Assisting with the crash scene and/or investigation were the Michigan State Police, Escanaba Public Safety, Ford River Fire and EMS, Rampart EMS, Delta County Road Commission and Gene’s Towing.
