On Saturday May 11th 2019 at approximately 12:14 pm Deputies responded to an ATV crash on Hwy 141 near Townline Rd in Hematite Township.
The ATV was traveling in the ditch along side highway 141 when the crash occurred. The driver who was identified as 25 year old Cody McGregor of Crystal Falls lost control of the vehicle which caused it to roll twice, McGregor was ejected from the vehicle. McGregor was air lifted to Aspirus in Wasau WI for treatment of his injuries.
His passenger in the vehicle was identified as 29 year old Travis Hoenig. Hoenig was belted in and was not ejected from the vehicle, but was transported to Aspirus in Wausu, WI for treatment of his injuries.
Both alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the accident.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Michigan State Police, Aspirus Medivac, Amasa Fire Department, and Crystal Falls Fire Department.
