The M&M Area Community Foundation is pleased to announce a partnership with Stephenson Area Public Schools to provide a “Safety around Water” program for all students in fourth grade. This exceptional program is funded by a grant the Community Foundation applied for and received from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund.
Free lessons will be provided to Stephenson district students by the Greater Marinette-Menominee YMCA, the nation’s leading provider of swimming lessons. Whether a child has been swimming for years or learning for the first time, dedicated YMCA instructors will teach children about safety in and around water, including the use of life jackets and rescue techniques.
“We are thankful and appreciative to partner with the M&M Area Community Foundation to offer the Safety around Water program for our entire 4th grade class. We truly appreciate their financial support and all they do for our communities. We would not be able to provide these positive opportunities without the help of the Community Foundation.” stated Becky Marciniak, Stephenson Area Public Schools, K-12 Assistant Principal.
