On 5/31/19 at approximately 4;48 pm, Escanaba Public Safety officers were dispatched for a car vs semi accident with entrapment in the 3000 block of M-35 near the airport entrance.
Escanaba Public Safety was extinguishing a vehicle fire west of Escanaba in the 4900 block of US 2&41 when the accident was dispatched. Upon arrival of an Escanaba Public Safety officer, the Delta County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police, and a Michigan DNR officer were already on scene. Ford River Township fire had been dispatched for Jaws of Life and were also on scene.
The passenger vehicle sustained significant damage and airbags were deployed. The semi trailer sustained damage to the driver side axle. The female driver of the SUV was transported to OSF by Rampart for treatment. The driver of the semi sustained no injuries.
The accident is still under investigation at this time.
