UP Health System – Marquette is proud to announce the addition of Kathryn Lerche, DO, to its Family Medicine Staff.
Dr. Lerche earned her Bachelor of Science at Michigan Tech before completing medical school at the Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine. She would go on and finish her residency with UPHS – Marquette Family Medicine. Dr. Lerche’s love for the UP and its citizens is why she wants to assist in the area’s health care needs.
“I fell in love with the UP during my time at Michigan Tech and always knew I would end up back here,” she said. “I love the small-town feel, the natural beauty and the slower pace of life. My husband is also from the UP, so being close to family is also important to us.
“I enjoyed my time working for UPHS during my residency training. I think it is a unique area to work as it has a combination of a small-town, rural feel while also being a regional referral center for the UP.”
Dr. Lerche joins a Family Medicine staff that is dedicated to providing compassionate, quality healthcare for the UP’s family, friends and neighbors. UPHS – Marquette offers a full-spectrum of primary care services including annual physical exams, well-child exams, pediatrics, geriatrics, women’s health, minor outpatient surgery, allergy injections, diabetes education, nutrition counseling and more.
“As an osteopathic physician, I believe in treating the whole patient — not just the symptoms,” Dr. Lerche said. “This includes a strong provider-patient relationship in order to make a decision together about treatments and testing. I feel this makes patients more invested in their care and also allows me to make better connections with my patients.”
Outside of medicine, Dr. Lerche enjoys painting, watching ships on the Great Lakes, learning to golf and boating.
