The Mid Peninsula Schools sinking fund millage request has failed by one vote. The unofficial totals from the Delta and Marquette County Clerks have the proposal failing, 109-105, in Baldwin and Maple Ridge Townships.
It failed in Turin Township, 16-15, and passed in Ewing Township, 12-8.
The total is 133 no votes to 132 yes votes.
The proposal would have raised taxes by two mills over ten years to make building repairs in the district.
Meanwhile, the Gwinn Area Community Schools have failed for a second time to convince voters to approve a sinking fund millage. After the proposal was rejected last May, it was rejected by voters again today, 778 no to 614 yes.
The proposal failed in five of the six precincts, including the largest, Forsyth Twp Precinct 1. The proposal would have raised taxes by 1.75 mills over ten years to make building improvements.
