Todd Stephen Williams, 52, of Escanaba was sentenced to 1 year 11 months to 5 years in prison following the entry of a guilty plea to Larceny by Conversion $1,000 or more but less than $20,000. Williams was on Parole from a prior larceny charge and his sentenced will be served consecutively to his prior offense.
On August 25, 2018, Gladstone Public Safety Department responded to the report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle owner reported that he had posted the vehicle for sale on Facebook and a male subject responded.
The male subject took the vehicle for a test ride and never returned. Williams was identified as part of Gladstone’s investigation as the suspect through the use of surveillance cameras and information provided by citizens.
During his interrogation, Williams admitted that he took the vehicle and was high on drugs when he did so. The vehicle was eventually recovered.
Gladstone Public Safety was assisted by Michigan State Police in its investigation.
