The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain, Michigan, will be holding a National POW/MIA Recognition Day ceremony at 11:00 a.m. (CT) Friday, September 20, 2019, at Pine Grove Country Club. The public is welcome to attend the ceremony.
The ceremony will pay tribute to America’s former prisoners of war who live in the Upper Peninsula and Northeast Wisconsin and those killed or still missing in action.
The keynote speaker will be Robert Valley, brother of F2/c Lowell Valley, who went missing at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941.
Mr. Valley will detail the fate of F2/c Valley and the USS Oklahoma unknowns. The ceremony will include music and readings, Color Guard by American Legion Post 50 and taps.
A private luncheon for the former POWs, their families, and invited guests will follow the ceremony.
