Upper Peninsula Congressman Jack Bergman is disgusted by what he’s seeing in Washngton these days.
In his weekly “Bergman Brief” E-Mail newsletter, the Watersmeet Republican wrote that the constant effort to impeach President Trump by House Democrats is “beneath the office we serve”.
Bergman wrote that Democrats are not focusing on the issues that need to be focused on, and are using rumors to try to hurt Trump. The Congressman called the investigations and impeachment proceedings a “charade”.
Bergman’s comments are reprinted below:
The behavior we experienced this week in our nation’s Capitol is beneath the office we serve.
We are roughly 30 legislative days away from the end of the year, with virtually no meaningful legislation sent to the President’s desk. In spite of strong bipartisan work on issues like Veterans suicide prevention, fixing the guest worker visa program, passing the USMCA, and expanding broadband access in rural America, Democratic leadership in the House will only allow one issue to move forward – investigating and impeaching our President, Donald Trump.
With both the transcript of the call and the whistle-blower report now declassified and released, we see that this entire story and basis of these claims are entirely second or even third hand rumor.
This entire charade is beneath the office we serve in, and the American people must demand better.
While Democrats focus entirely on ousting President Trump, I will remain laser-focused on fighting for the needs of the constituents of the First District and working together to accomplish our goals.
I look forward to being back in Traverse City and Petoskey this weekend, and look forward to talking with you more in the days ahead.
