The Michigan Department of Technology, Management & Budget (DTMB) will coordinate the harvest of the official 2019 state Christmas tree in Iron Mountain, Mich, on Thursday at 10 a.m. CST.
The 61 foot blue spruce is being donated by Jordan and Sarah Wolfenberg and their family at 202 Aragon Street.
Students from Iron Mountain Public Schools and Breitung Township Schools will be on hand to witness the harvest. A brief ceremony will include music performed by Iron Mountain and Kingsford banks and remarks from Iron Mountain mayor, Dale Assandrini; Jordan and Sarah Wolfenberg; Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association representative; Denny Olson; and a representative from DTMB. The tree will be harvested by the Michigan Association of Timberman and Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association at no cost to the owners or state.
DTMB will coordinate the transportation and delivery of the 2019 official state Christmas tree from Dickinson County to the state Capitol in Lansing Saturday morning at 8:30. At the Capitol, Boy Scout troops 109 and 125 will be on hand to untie the tree. The HI-Ball Company of Lansing will volunteer a crane and crew to set the tree at the intersection of Capitol and East Michigan avenues.
