Much of the Upper Peninsula woke up to its first snowfall Tuesday, with northern and eastern portions of the region seeing the most.
Four inches were reported in Germfask in northern Schoolcraft County, with three inches near Skandia and Eben Junction in Alger County.
Jacob Horton with the National Weather Service in Marquette tells the Radio Results Network that it’s not unusual to see snow before Halloween up here.
He says that the average date for first snow, at the N-W-S office anyway, is October 21st. He says much of the area saw snow accumulate on grassy surfaces, leaving many roads in the area wet.
