As part of a school outreach program titled “20 TIME”, students from the Norway-Vulcan Area schools donated stuffed animals to the Dickinson County Healthcare (DCH) Emergency Department (ED). The stuffed animals will be distributed to comfort and cheer up the Pediatric patients who show up at the ED in need of emergency care.
The 20 TIME program is part of a technology class where students are asked to take 20% of their class time to plan out some type of business venture that has a pay it forward end result. Students, Anna Falk and Mary Cavagnetto put their heads together and thought of ways to raise capital to fund a project.
To raise money they sold lemonade and cookies and they asked others to donate to their cause. Anna said, “Our goal was to help those who are less fortunate and the Pediatric patients who were either sick or injured sounded like the perfect plan.”
The girls also came up with a great idea to maximize their spending power. “We went to Shopko’s going out of business sale and because we got such a great deal on the stuffed animals, we were able to buy twice as many as we had planned”, noted Mary.
Thank you ladies for your very generous gift as the ED staff will gladly share the stuffed animals on your behalf. Also, thank you to our local area schools for promoting creative, positive, and life learning programs for the students in our community.
