Hailey Marie Hatting, 30, of Escanaba was sentenced to 17 months to 5 years in prison.
Hatting was sentenced following the entry of a guilty plea to Prisoner Possessing Contraband in the Jail.
Hatting was serving a sentence for Assaulting/Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer and Possession of Analogues at the time she committed the instant offense. Hatting’s sentence will be consecutive to the underlying sentences.
On May 13, 2019, a Corrections Officer from the Delta County Sheriff’s Office, MI observed a female inmate in the Delta County Jail to be under the influence of a narcotic. Further investigation led the Corrections Officers to search a female cell and conduct drug tests on the inmates lodged in the cell. Pills were located in the cell, which were identified as bupenorphine (commonly referred to as Suboxone). Hatting was interviewed and admitted that another inmate brought in the bupenerophine.
Hatting admitted to snorting the drug by using a rolled up playing card in the shower.
