9:00 P.M. UPDATE—
Cloverland Electric Cooperative reports approximately 15,600 outages remaining overnight across its service territory. Chippewa County has the largest concentration of outages with the greatest volume in Sault Ste. Marie, Kinross, Drummond Island and Brimley.
Despite line crews working tirelessly since early Monday morning, restoration efforts have been difficult as additional outages occur due to heavy snow and ice accumulation causing more trees and branches on power lines.
All available crews from the co-op’s five divisions are working to restore outages in over 480 locations.
Cloverland line crews are assisted from mutual aid crews and will work into the night until mandatory safety rest is required. Restoration efforts will resume early Tuesday morning when daylight and improved weather conditions will enhance progress.
As communicated this evening, Cloverland Electric members need to consider alternate arrangements as necessary to ensure their safety during this extended outage that will likely take multiple days to restore. Those who depend on electricity for medical equipment should continue an emergency back-up plan for alternate sources of power or alternate lodging. Members with unmet, non-emergency needs should call 2-1-1.

Those with access to www.cloverland.com and Cloverland Electric’s Facebook page can stay current on restoration efforts and the latest updates available. However, the co-op reminds its members not use Facebook or other social media platforms to report outages, post service addresses or other account information.
