The M&M Area Community Foundation (MMACF) thrives on making education more accessible for our community’s youth. In 2019, the MMACF awarded over 65 scholarships totaling nearly $105,000. Scholarships are available for high school, as well as non-traditional, students throughout Marinette and Menominee Counties.
High School Students
Information on scholarships offered through the Community Foundation, including applications, may be found on the MMACF website at mmacf.org/scholarships. Applications are available March 2nd – 31st. High school students should also contact their school’s Guidance Department for information on other scholarships held by the Community Foundation.
Non-Traditional Students
Non-traditional students are the focus of two of the scholarships offered by the Community Foundation. The “Sara Murray Lambrecht Scholarship for Promising Young Women” was established in 2005 by Laura Cunningham and Mari Hoskins, Sara’s daughters. Women, aged 30 or younger attending or planning to attend a four-year college or university are encouraged to apply. The second scholarship for non-traditional students was established by the sons of Hugh and Mary Higley. Financial need is a principal criterion for the Hugh and Mary Higley Non-Traditional Scholarship and the award must be used for tuition at a two-year or four-year higher education institution. More information on these scholarships, including applications, may be found on the Foundation website at mmacf.org/scholarships. Applications are available March 2nd – 31st.
Thank You Donors
Again this year, several new scholarships are available thanks to the generosity of community members who established endowed funds at the Community Foundation. “The donors who contribute to our scholarship funds are positively impacting our twin counties for years to come and we can’t thank them enough.” stated Paula Gruszynski, MMACF Executive Director.
