The lakes are frozen in Marquette and we still have plenty of snow these days, but the City of Marquette Fire Department is getting ready for the summer season. The department will be working with the Red Cross to offer lifeguard certification courses. There is no fee for the courses.
They will be offered on April 18th and 19th…and again on the 25th and 26th…from 8 until 5.
There are online portions of this too that have to be done ahead of time, and students have to pass all four pool sessions to become certified. There will also be re-certification courses offered as well. Call Teresa at 225-85-96 to register. There’s more information at Marquette MI dot gov.
The City of Marquette is also looking for people to serve as lifeguards for the beach season, which runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day. These are paid positions, and people aged 16 or older can apply for those at 228-04-80.
