…WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM EDT FRIDAY…
Heavy snow and areas of blowing snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 3 to locally 8 inches with the heaviest snow from the Michigamme Highlands through Negaunee to Eben Junction. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. Travel could be very difficult. Snow and areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility later tonight into Friday morning. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday morning commute, especially along Highway M-28 from Marquette to Munising.
The combination of strong north winds and heavy snow could also cause sporadic power outages. Precipitation will begin to change from rain to a wet snow this evening and then transition to lake enhanced snow late tonight into Friday. The strongest north winds gusting up to 45 mph are expected late tonight into Friday morning, especially along Lake Superior.
If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

Moderate wet snowfall. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches…greatest along and west of a line from Iron River to Amasa. Lesser amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected from Crystal Falls to Iron Mountain. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. Plan on slippery road conditions and reduced visibility. Precipitation will transition from rain to a wet snow late this evening and overnight.
