Rapid River’s “Brisket Barn” is continuing efforts to provide meals for essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Co-owner Bobbi Ryan tells the Radio Results Network that a lot of people have come through to help them to help others.
“We’ve got a lot of donations from other areas,” Ryan said. “We’ve got some from Marquette, and other places, calling them in. We took last week off because of the cold but we’re back out there.”
Dozens of meals have already been provided. The mobile food vendor is using money donated from across the region to provide this service. One of the most popular, she says, is the homemade cinnamon rolls that are baked at Jack’s Restaurant in Rapid River. They plan to be in front of the Rapid River Mini Mart from 10 till 6 all week this week.
Ryan says they’re back at it again this week, and many people are trying to “give” rather than “receive”.
“It’s kind of hard to say ‘thank you’ when they (front-line workers) keep pushing it forward she said. “But that’s OK. And you don’t have to be a front-line worker. I know there’s a lot of people struggling right now just to get groceries on the table. So if you need food, we’ve got food. Come on down and let us take care of you.”
