The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday reported 1,016 new positive test results and nine new deaths.
Michigan now has 130,842 positive test results since the crisis began back in March, and 6,847 deaths.
The Upper Peninsula added 82 new cases on Wednesday, according to the MDHHS report. The most was in Delta County, with 27 new positive tests and one more death. Iron County also reported another death on Wednesday.
Houghton County added 23 new cases and Marquette County had ten new positive tests added to the total.
Keweenaw County had four cases removed from its total and Chippewa County had one positive test removed.’
The U.P. now has 3,017 total cases since the crisis began in March. There have been 46 deaths reported in the U.P. during the pandemic.
The state also has 14,250 “probable cases” and 322 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The U.P. has had 490 probable cases and one probable death.
The U.P.’s ten hospitals, as of Monday, were caring for a combined 41 COVID patients, with 18 of them at U.P. Health System hospitals. There were ten other patients in intensive care units, for a total of 51. This was not updated Tuesday or Wednesday.
The state says that 99, 521 people have recovered from the virus. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis. That is an increase of more than 4,200 recoveries in the past week.
