The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Saturday reported 3,338 new positive test results and eight new deaths.
State officials also went through death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added 27 more deaths to the state’s total using that method.
There was no report issued on Sunday, so Monday’s numbers will include totals from both days.
Michigan now has 158,026 positive test results since the crisis began back in March, and 7,182 deaths.
The state says that 114, 939 people have recovered from the virus. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis. That is more than 5,000 new recoveries in the past week.
Marquette County reported 42 new cases and one new death on Saturday. New deaths were also reported in Delta and Gogebic Counties, and Delta County crossed the 1,000 case mark for the duration of the pandemic.
The Upper Peninsula now has 4,951 total cases since the crisis began in March. There have been 92 deaths reported in the U.P. during the pandemic.
The state also has 16,883 “probable cases” and 332 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The U.P. has had 809 probable cases and nine probable deaths.
