Late-Night Fire At Escanaba’s Hereford And Hops Restaurant

Fire broke out late Thursday night at the Hereford and Hops restaurant in downtown Escanaba.

Public Safety says the call came in at 11:45 pm after some towels caught fire in the kitchen area. There was heavy smoke inside the restaurant and Public Safety had to ventilate the building. Officers also put out the flames in the laundry basket full of burning towels. Some upstairs apartments were briefly evacuated. No injuries were reported.
