The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Monday reported 9,010 new positive test results and 62 new deaths.
These are two-day totals, as the state does not issue reports on Sundays.
Michigan now has 216,804 positive test results since the crisis began back in March, and 7,640 deaths.
The Upper Peninsula added more than 400 new positive test results on Monday.
Delta County reported 66 new cases and five new deaths on Monday. Dickinson County reported 152 new cases and one new death.
Marquette County added 142 new positive tests.
All 15 Upper Peninsula counties added new cases in Monday’s state report.
The U.P. now has 7,797 total cases since the crisis began in March.
There have been 138 deaths reported in the U.P. during the pandemic.
Some local health departments reported different totals, as reporting cutoff times are different than the state report.
For consistency, we use the MDHHS data in our report.
The state also has 21,504 “probable cases” and 368 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The U.P. has had 1,175 probable cases and 25 probable deaths.
The state says that 128,891 people have recovered from the virus. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis. That is more than 7,500 new recoveries in the past week. That will be updated again on Saturday.
