The Ishpeming School District gave an update Monday on its plans following the governor’s announcement that high schools are closed for the next three weeks, and that sports will also be banned during those three weeks. The press release follows:
“We will move to distant learning for all high school students (grades: 9-12) starting Wednesday, November 18, 2020. During this time, all extracurricular activities are canceled. Grades 9-12 will resume face-to-face learning on December 9, 2020.
Through several discussions it has been determined that we will finish this week with face-to-face learning for grades Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) through grade 8. However, we will move to distant learning for grades ECSE through grade 8 for November 23, 24, and 25, 2020. At this time, we plan to resume face-to-face learning on Monday, November 30, 2020, for grades ECSE through grade 8.
As the safety of our staff and students is always our top priority, I want to assure you we will continue to make these decisions with the well-being of our entire Hematite family in mind. We appreciate everyone’s flexibility and patience during these crazy times. Everyone has worked very hard over the last couple of months and, as indicated in our low number of positive associated cases in our district, all of our efforts are paying off! I appreciate your determination to help keep our students and staff safe.
