The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Monday reported 11,511 new positive test results and 65 new deaths.
These are combined Sunday and Monday totals.
Michigan now has 314,216 comfirmed cases since the crisis began in March. The state also has recorded 8,543 deaths during that time.
The Upper Peninsula added 281 new positive tests on Monday, with 85 of them in Marquette County and 31 in Delta County. The state report showed Dickinson County with 46 new cases, but the Dickinson-Iron District Health Department reported 96 new cases.
Nine new deaths were reported on Monday: two in Chippewa County, and one each in Delta, Dickinson, Gogebic, Houghton, Iron, Menominee and Ontonagon Counties.
The U.P. now has 10,960 total cases since the crisis began in March.
There have been 189 deaths reported in the U.P. during the pandemic.
Some local health departments reported different totals, as reporting cutoff times are different than the state report.
For consistency, we use the MDHHS data in our report.
The state also has 26,748 “probable cases” and 397 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The U.P. has had 1,810 probable cases and 29 probable deaths.
MDHHS reported on Saturday that nearly 14,000 people (13,825) have been listed as “recovered” in the last week alone. The total recoveries now stands at 152,267. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis.
