The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday reported 6,955 new positive test results and 81 new deaths.
Michigan now has 373,197 confirmed cases and 9,405 deaths since the crisis began in March.
The state also has 29,689 “probable cases” and 437 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The Upper Peninsula added 169 new positive test results on Wednesday, with Baraga County reporting two new deaths and Dickinson County also adding a death.
The U.P. now has 12,205 confirmed positive test results, and 235 confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the crisis began in March.
The U.P. has had a total of 2,275 probable cases and 40 probable deaths.
Some local health departments reported different totals, as reporting cutoff times are different than the state report.
For consistency, we use the MDHHS data in our report.
MDHHS reports that 13,002 have been listed as “recovered” in the last week alone. The total recoveries now stands at 165,269. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis.
