Michigan Adds 4,900 Positive Tests; 124 In Upper Peninsula

The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednesday reported 4,905 new positive test results and 75 new deaths.

Michigan now has 415,200 confirmed cases and 10,213 deaths since the crisis began in March.

The state also has 33,218 “probable cases” and 493 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.

The Upper Peninsula added 124 new positive tests on Wednesday, with the most being 27 in Delta County and 20 in Dickinson County. One new death was reported in Marquette County.

The U.P. now has 13,029 confirmed positive test results, and 263 confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the crisis began in March.

The U.P. has had a total of 2,573 probable cases and 51 probable deaths.

Some local health departments reported different totals, as reporting cutoff times are different than the state report.

For consistency, we use the MDHHS data in our report.

MDHHS reports its largest one-week total of recoveries as well. Some 32,841 people have been listed as “recovered” in the last week alone. The total recoveries now stands at 197,750. This is defined as being alive 30 days after the positive test or diagnosis.
