Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Wednesday announced the extension of most of the restrictions that have been in place since the “pause” was first imposed back in November.
It means that indoor gathering limits are still in effect, and no indoor service is allowed in bars and restaurants. The governor said that could change in a couple of weeks, with capacity limits, masks, and a curfew starting Feb. 1.
The order also continues a ban on indoor high school and youth contact sports. The Michigan High School Athletic Association had planned to allow practices to begin on Saturday, with games the following Friday.
But indoor group fitness classes can resume on Saturday.
Whitmer said that Michigan’s COVID-19 numbers have been improving, and these restrictions are the reason why.
MORE DETAILS WILL BE POSTED AS THEY ARE RELEASED
