The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Wednessday announced 2,694 new coronavirus cases and 32 new deaths.
Michigan now has a total of 528,306 cases and 13,533 deaths since the crisis began last March.
The state also has 44,972 “probable cases” and 803 “probable deaths” that are not confirmed by a positive test result, but COVID-19 is believed to be the cause.
The Upper Peninsula added 78 new positive tests on Wednesday, with 17 in Houghton County and 15 in Marquette County. There were ten new cases each in Delta, Gogebic, and Iron Counties.
There were no new deaths reported in the Upper Peninsula Wednesday.
The U.P. now has 15,158 confirmed positive test results, and 338 confirmed COVID-19 deaths since the crisis began in March.
The U.P. has had a total of 3,602 probable cases and 78 probable deaths.
Some local health departments may report different numbers on different days. We use the MDHHS numbers in our report for consistency.
The state also is reporting that more than 51,000 people have recovered in the past week alone. That is defined as being alive at least 30 days after the diagnosis or onset of symptoms. Michigan now has 415,079 total recovered cases. This number is updated once a week, on Saturdays.
