The Marquette County Health Department and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy will be doing sampling of private wells near the former Marquette County Airport site in Negaunee Township.
They will be looking for evidence of PFAS, which was included in the foam that firefighters used in their training at former military installations and airports. There’s no evidence yet that there is any of the chemical in that area’s wells. They will start testing about 50 wells in the area the week of May 16.
