A 78-year-old downstate Cheboygan man is dead following a motorcycle crash on Mackinac Bridge on Saturday morning.
State Police say the as-yet unidentified man was traveling northbound across the bridge when he crossed the center lane divider and hit an on-coming pickup truck at about 10:30 a.m..
The driver of the pick-up was a 39-year-old man from Newberry. The Newberry man and his passengers received minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
The bridge was closed for several hours, and then there were long traffic back-ups after it re-opened. By Saturday evening, traffic was flowing freely again.
