The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services on Friday announced 6,095 new positive coronavirus test results and 15 new COVID-related deaths over the two-day period of Thursday and Friday.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive tests. They added 44 deaths to the statewide total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, there were 232 new cases reported Thursday and Friday, for an average of 116 new cases per day. The most by far were reported in Marquette County with 78 new cases. Delta County added 34 cases, while 19 new positive tests were reported in both Menominee and Houghton Counties, and 18 new cases in Dickinson County.
One new death was reported in both Marquette and Menominee Counties.
