Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Service Agency (MARESA) is hosting a regional community forum event October 21, 22 and 23 to gather community input which will assist in the development of a new strategic plan that reflects the collective values and educational priorities of the schools and communities it serves.
Education is rapidly changing and MARESA is charged by the state of Michigan to ensure that every K-12 school district in Marquette and Alger County receives comprehensive services and supports that meet the needs of every learner. Parents, students, employers, and community members-at-large are invited to join the event to provide input that will give MARESA leadership an understanding of strengths and successes as well as identify areas where the agency can work to enhance and improve their services.
βThe purpose of the community forum is to capture conversations that will fine-tune regional education priorities and improve the success of all students, educators, local school districts and the communities,β we serve,β says MARESA Superintendent Greg Nyen.
The event will take place over three days in both Munising and Marquette to allow broad audienceparticipation in a region that spans two counties and 8,473 square miles.
Thursday, October 21, 5-9 p.m. at Munising High School
Friday, October 22, 5-9 p.m. at the Ramada Inn in Marquette
Saturday, October 23, 8 a.m. β 12:30 p.m. at the Ramada Inn in Marquette
The MARESA Board of Education recognizes the time commitment involved in attending the event and has taken steps to reduce personal expense such as mileage reimbursement or subsidized lodging that may be incurred by attendees who would commute fifty miles or more to participate. To achieve regional consensus, MARESA expects participants to attend all three days.
The event will be facilitated by Drew Howick, a member of the Future Search Network, a non-profit global network of professionals that conducts learning through guiding principles and proven practices to improve future search outcomes for community organizations.
Participants can register to attend at www.maresa.org or call 906-226-5100 for more information.
