The number of new coronavirus cases continues to plummet in Michigan.
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services reported 1,819 new cases on Friday, which covers both Thursday and Friday. That’s less than 1,000 new cases per day, a fraction of what was being reported in January.
There were seven new COVID deaths reported over those five days.
State officials also went through old death certificates and matched them to previous positive test results. They added 38 more deaths to the state total.
Here in the Upper Peninsula, no new deaths were reported over those two days. There were 87 new positive test results across the 15 counties for Thursday and Friday combined.
