Verso Corporation, Michigan DNR, and the Bay de Noc Great Lakes Sports Fishermen will be collaborating on a Brown Trout plant in 2023.
Brown Trout numbers have been on the rise in the most recent years locally. Through communication with Locals, Verso, and Michigan DNR, we have decided to pool our resources together to help the population by planting more Brown Trout in 2023.
Verso Corporation donated $15,000 on March 12, 2022 and will be matched by GLSF to purchase Brown Trout in 2023. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has also agreed to raise and plant Brown Trout out of its hatcheries in 2023. All of which will be planted locally.
The intent is to keep this collaboration going for 3 consecutive years.
GLSF has been a long-standing figure with the local fishery, raising and planting Walleye in the local waters.
