The Escanaba Municipal Beach opened for the season on Monday.
Hours will be 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. seven days a week with certified lifeguards.
The City of Escanaba Recreation Department realizes the loss of the sand beach over the last couple of years. However, the berm is extremely essential in maintaining what sand area we currently have. The berm is in place to prevent further erosion of the beach area.
No swim lessons will be offered this year due to Water Safety Instructor certification shortages and staffing levels.
