Mother Nature was not entirely helpful on Monday as Upper Peninsula communities tried to hold their Independence Day celebrations.
Marquette, Gladstone, and Iron Mountain/Kingsford got their parades in during the afternoon, although Marquette’s Boat Parade was canceled.
When evening came, fireworks displays were dampened by a persistent light rain.
Marquette postponed its fireworks until Tuesday night, while Gladstone postponed its fireworks until next Saturday night. The Bark River fireworks were also postponed, and will be held during the Off-Road races later this summer.
