Dave Prestin won the Republican nomination for the 108th District in the State House of Representatives. The incumbent Beau LaFave had reached term limits and due to redistricting would no longer be in the district.
Dave Prestin put in the work for the nomination and was, “Very pleased with the outcome it’s good to see all the hard work paid off, we knocked on 7 or 8,000 doors myself and my daughter probably did 3,500 to 4,000 of them. We canvassed and we didn’t stop walking probably 50 to 55 days straight.”
With 100% of the votes reporting, Prestin received 5,558 votes, beating out Mark Simon, who received 3,690, Casey Hoffman, who got 2,607, and Kurt Perron, who received 1,219.
“The big thing right now is people are getting priced out of their livelihoods. Whether it’s taxes, inflation, grocery, fuel, you name it. I mean the municipalities, they are facing increases, as the county commissioner we are facing increases as far as our work force is concerned which is going to ultimately push our millage up,” Prestin said about the big issues facing the people in the upcoming general election.
Prestin, a member on the Alger-Delta Board of directors, also touched on how energy will have a major impact on the election. Chris Lopez ran unopposed to receive the Democratic nomination for the 108th District in the State House of Representatives.
Lopez and Prestin will face off in the general election on Tuesday, November 8 2022. The new 108th district is no longer Delta, Dickinson and Menominee Counties. Instead, it now includes Delta, Schoolcraft, Menominee, Luce, and parts of Mackinac and Chippewa Counties.
